    Keeping Shisha Fresh

Keeping your shisha fresh can be a matter of importance, especially if you’re one of those people with a large stash or if you don’t smoke that often.  Of course we’ve developed a method here, and if you’ve seen a well organized hookah bar, you probably have a good idea of how it works.

First things first, air-tight containers!  This is the number one thing to keep all sorts of nasty stuff out of your shisha.  The nicest thing you can do for your stash is to go purchase a huge multipack of plastic-ware containers in various sizes, they’ll last for years and they’ll always seal back tightly, which will make your shisha remain juicy and flavorful for longer.  Or, if you’re a fan of HookaH-HookaH and Hookah Freak, save your 100g and 250g jars – with screw-on lids and a solid plastic body these jars are meant to survive years of use!

Now, the next big thing is keeping them out of the light – why?  Because we want a constant temperature!  Temperature fluctuations can make shisha ferment, age faster, and do all sorts of stuff to it that makes it less tasty overall.  So find a pantry or a cabinet that’s not near a stove or heater – this will become your new stash cabinet!

So now you’ve got the storage devices and the area to store your shisha, what else could you need?  Well, there are a few other small things to do to keep your shisha organized.  Number one would be labeling:  If you want to take the quick route that allows for easy label switching on containers, all you need is some masking tape and a permanent marker, this is for shisha flavors you plan on switching out a lot.  However, if you have a staple flavor in your collection, why not go ahead and superglue some of the packaging for it to the top of a specific container? A resealable plastic-ware container with a sweet Nakhla Double Apple logo on it? – That shows your care about your shisha and having the freshest smoke available on hand!

If you’re looking to improve your smoking experience, why not start by treating your shisha right?

  • How to Customize Your Shisha

    Customize Your Shisha Tobacco

HookaHHookaH.com is the first and only website to offer you the ability to make shisha your way – why not anyone else?  Because we actually manufacture our own shisha!

By combining any of our 52 delicious HookaH-HookaH flavors you get the ability to make your own 250g special blend.  You even get the option of putting your own name on the label!

Our in-house tobacconists take the flavors you choose in the exact quantities you specify and pre-blend the flavors and then apply it to your shisha mix.

So how do you go about ordering one of these personalized flavors?  Well, on the frontpage of HookaHHookaH.com, there are a series of colored buttons on the bottom right… the Yellow button links directly to the Customize Your Shisha product.  Or if you want to scope it out now, check:

    Customize Your Hookah

Now, first things first, you start with your first flavor, and then you choose a second flavor.  If all you want is a two flavor blend, then you can leave it at that.  However, if you want a more complex blend, it’s time to keep going, go down to the third flavor selection box and add yet another!  Your custom blend can contain up to a total of 5 different flavors – giving you the ability to make some of the most complex mixtures ever!

How many blends does that mean you could possibly make? Well… we did a little bit of math and we found (barring duplicates) that it’s literally in the hundreds of millions.  That’s a lot of unique blends!

Once you’ve decided on your own tasty blend, you have the choice of giving it a custom label.  The label comes at a small extra cost, but it adds the last bit of custom flair to truly make your blend completely customized.

All you have to do to complete the order is put it in your cart, sign in, and place it!  It’s just that easy to get shisha made specifically to suit your taste.  If you want to specify the percentages of shisha flavoring in the blend, simply write them out in the customer notes section of the order form, and voila: Shisha Your Way!

  • Hookah 101 – Vol. 2: “How to Clean Your Hookah”

    Date: 2010.03.26 | Category: How To Video's, Instructional | Response: 0

    How To Clean A Hookah

Hookah 101 – Vol.2: “How to Clean Your Hookah” is a 5 minute video showcasing the proper way to dismantle and then clean your hookah. We walk you through the right way to easily clean your hookah. With regular maintenance, scrubbing out your hookah should take less than 5 minutes from beginning to end. I recommend doing a little tidying every week to keep your hookah in the best condition that it can be, and to keep your shisha tasting FRESH- instead of last week’s Hookah Freak.

This blog breaks down the video into easy to read steps for you, so whether you prefer video or written word, you’re set! Some things you’ll need in order to get started are water, vinegar, a cloth or sponge and a stem cleaning brush (every Hookah you order from HookaH-HookaH comes with a brush in your carrying bag when in stock). I wouldn’t recommend using soap because it leaves a residue and you definitely don’t want suds while you’re smoking! And stay away from the dishwasher… your hookah will be just fine without it!

Ready to get started? Good. First get all of your materials together near a sink so you don’t make a mess! Take apart your hookah piece by piece. Remove the bowl, unscrew the adapter and take off the charcoal tray. Depending on how high you built your stem, you’re going to want to unscrew it piece by piece until the entire stem is dismantled. Submerge your bowl and adapters in the vinegar and let them sit for around 2 minutes. While this is sitting, take the pieces of your stem and run the vinegar through it (this is where the sink comes in handy). Flush the entire stem with vinegar, take your stem cleaning brush and push it through all of the holes. You also might want to twist it a few times to REALLY get all the particles off. Rinse the stem by pouring water through it – make sure you do this thoroughly. If you don’t get all of the vinegar out, your next smoking session could taste like pickles… and you don’t want that! After all of the vinegar is rinsed off, set the stem aside to dry. Remove your bowl and the adapters from the vinegar and rinse them with water. If you want to get your bowl extra clean, you can take a small pipe cleaner and run it through the holes. After you’re sure your bowl is clean, set it aside to dry. The charcoal tray just needs to be rinsed with water and wiped with the cloth. Now for the vase – pour vinegar into the vase and swish it around by picking up the vase and moving it in a circular motion. Take your stem cleaning brush again (see, these things are uber useful!) and bend it to get the tobacco ring off of the inside of your vase. Rinse that with water and set it aside to dry.
