Meet The (Top 5) Fakhers!

Al Fakher is one of the Middle East’s favorite shishas – it’s made in the UAE and is available in an extremely wide variety of flavors. However, that’s none of our concern, this blog is only about the top 5 flavors, so if you’re looking for mediocrity, get out!
Ok, now that that’s out of the way, let’s talk about the top 5 Al Fakher Flavors!
#5 – Grape: Grape is one of Al Fakher’s keystone flavors. In fact, there was such a massive uproar over Al Fakher grape when they changed their grape flavoring in 2008 that they rapidly switched to back to the older taste… which is good for us as hookah smokers, because apparently their new flavoring tasted like ketchup. Heinz 52 in my bowl??? No way. However, since changing back to the old formula, we can safely say that if you want something that tastes like a grape drink, and you really want to smoke it, don’t pass this one up!
#4 – Strawberry: This flavor of Al Fakher is like dropping a Strawberry starburst into your mouth and then… sucking it into your lungs? Well, that sounds fairly unpleasant. But regardless, the taste is eerily similar to the famed candy. Not only that, it also coats your mouth and leaves a pleasant aftertaste that only the most holier-than-thou of health freaks could find unpleasant. If you’re looking for a candied strawberry flavor that delivers a solid buzz and a lasting flavor, this is one for your stash.
#3 – Watermelon: This time we move from Starburst to Jolly Ranchers – this Watermelon flavor is pretty much exactly like dropping around 7 watermelon Jolly Ranchers into your mouth at the same time. It’s a customer favorite for the extremely strong, candied flavor that it provides – and the fact that it’s spot on to one of the more famous candies to exist. When you were the kid that would get an entire bag of Jolly Ranchers, and pick out all of the Watermelon flavored ones and eat them first, this is definitely for you.
#2 – Two Apples: Al Fakher couldn’t just call this flavor Double Apple like everyone else, that would’ve been a travesty! Instead they released it under the name Two Apples and tweaked it just a little bit to give it the edge over a lot of the competition. For starters, they cut down on the anise flavor that makes most Double Apples taste sort of like licorice, and instead focused on giving it a sort of tangy red apple taste. This results in a milder Double Apple that appeals to someone just getting into more traditional flavors. Gotta hand it to Al Fakher, they did this one right.
#1 – Mint: Ahhhhhhh, Mint. We finally make it to the crowning achievement of them all. This is one of the most intense flavors in the Al Fakher line-up. When you first start the session, it’s almost like you’ve got a mouthful of Crest toothpaste and you can barely breath, but it’s delicious. Then the flavor dies down a little bit, which is fortunate because you don’t want to die, but at least it would be a decent way to go. This is a sweet Mint that hits all of the right notes, gives you the correct amount of spicy burning and minty cooling, and is an all-around pleasurable smoke. It’s Al Fakher Time! Feel free to Wikipedia Genghis Khan if you want to know exactly how awesome you have to be to become a Khan.First up we have the Khan! A Khan, back in the day, was a ruler, a warrior, and an unmatched strategist. This brand new hookah features a fancy twine wrap that emphasizes the glass underneath of it in an impressive way, mixing smooth and textured to create a terrific blending that is virtually unseen on the hookah market today. If you’re looking for a hookah that’s regal, like a real Khan, then look no farther. This is the real deal.

Next, we move to the opposite end of the design spectrum with the brand new Swirl hookah. This design is gentle, flowing, and it utilizes a pastel-like pattern to give it a feeling of tranquility. Very artistic, this vase is a direct colorful contrast to the stark, stoic Khan.
Both of these beautiful vases are part of our Sahara collection – which means that they have the patented Sahara dish vase design that makes them extremely stable due to their broad base while also maintaining aesthetically pleasing curves all the way up to the top. These new medium hookahs are also completely compatible with the Sahara 360 stand, making them even more attractive!
So, whether you’re looking for a hookah that’s extremely serious and austere, or for a hookah that’s lively and a little bit silly – we’ve got you covered on both sides of the spectrum. Check out the Khan and the Swirl and see which one is right for you!

THE GREAT VASE/OFF
In previous blogs we’ve gone over different types of bowls and different types of stems – but today… today we talk about the butt of the hookah. Some people like them nice and rounded, others like them thin and solid. What? Get your mind out of the gutter, we’re talking about the vase!
TRADITIONAL VASES –
You can generally tell where a vase originates due to its shape – this is especially true for a great deal of Traditional vases. Egyptian vases tend to come in the standard bell vase shape. This vase shape works wonderfully with a long downstem, but is sadly lacking without one. There are various modifications to this basic shape, but almost all of them will tip a little bit easily, which is their main flaw. Traditional vases often come with hand-painting… which can look really good when it’s well-done, but the mass-produced vases will often be sloppy.
Here are some good examples of what to expect from your traditional vases:

MODERN VASES –
Modern Vases come in all shapes and sizes. Some are machine manufactured, others are hand blown. Once you’ve seen a modern vase and a traditional vase side by side, however, definite distinctions come into play. First and foremost, modern vases tend to have wild designs already etched or added into the glass when it was originally blown. This allows for a great departure from the traditional vases that have hand-painted and often shoddy work. However, Traditional vases have a tried and true design for getting the most smoke, while the bad Modern vases – since there are so many different shapes – tend to have somewhat “whack” designs. That’s right. We said whack.
In any case, the most popular and utilitarian modern vases include: Sahara Smoke’s dish vase pattern where the broad bottom prevents tipping, Mya Saray’s bambino vase which is like a rounded grenade, and Social Smoke’s simplistic broad-based design. These are typically seen as the best modern vases for smoke and style.
Here’s what to expect from the nice moderns:

However, the opposite is also true for our modern vases… take a look at these travesties:
